2009年8月底9月初，彭定中先生率嘉里集团郭氏基金会一行再次前往山西右玉，以下是他要与我们分享的风景和故事。 标题原文：The Resilience Of The Wild Flowers And The Farmers Of 塞北

It is early September, you can certainly feel the Autumn is here in the Northern Shanxi. The sky looks higher, and the cool air makes you feel that you can even breath easier. It is a good time to enjoy the countryside of northern China.译文：

This is the time of the year you can begin to find frost in the early morning. However, you can still see a few loosely standing flowers in the middle of the grass. They look a bit lonely, but it may help to show their power to survive in the not very easy environments.译文：
每年的这个时候，清晨开始出现霜冻。但是在草丛里仍然稀稀拉拉的可以看到一些小花。她们看上去有点孤单，但正好也能显示出她们的生命力。在比较恶劣的环境下，她们仍能生存下来。 原文：
I like the farmers of northern Shanxi. They are simple, down to the earth, and as resilient as those wild flowers. They work very hard simply just want to bring their families better lives..译文：

The problem of northern Shanxi is its people spread in a huge remote mountain area. It's difficult to access to the water, electricity and decent transportation system. They are isolated with limited means to barely make a living, through generations continue to be poor.译文：
塞北的问题在于人口分布的很不集中，在很大面积的山区里，稀疏地分布着为数不多的人口。这给供水、供电和交通都带来困难。这种分布所造成的孤离隔绝，使得这里的人们仅仅足以谋生，世代持续贫穷。 原文：
To fundamentally change their life, we have to move them out from here.译文：

Now with the supports from outside, and the mutual help among themselves, they look confident to be able to get out of poverty in the near future. It's nice to see the sign of great hope from their smiling faces.译文：

This family just moved in their new house, with very barely 2,3 piece of furnitures. I am sure when I go back to visit them a few years from now, their home would look very different.译文：

Soon their children will attend this new school in the village, with not only the good teaching facilities, but more important with good qualified teachers.译文：

With this new facility under construction, and the help of more scientific pig raising methodology, we believe that farmers moving in the new village will quickly be able to bring more income for their families.译文：

This small public park will be more lively when villagers start to take advantage of it and also take care of it.译文：

Can you all imagine 50 years ago the green you see here today was pretty much a desert. The people in Youyu have proofed that you can convert a desert to green forest if you determine to do so.译文：
你们是否能想象，现在你们所看到的这片树林在50年前几乎就是一片沙漠。右玉的人民已经证明，如果决意去做，把沙漠变成绿洲是可以做到的事。 原文：
Please remember, in this world, all the good things have never come easy. The 2 baby trees you see in the picture was planted last year. 80 percent of those trees need be replanted for at least 3 times before they can grow to become part of the forest.译文：
请记住，在这个世界上，所有美好的事物都来之不易。照片中的这两棵树苗是去年植下的。在这里，80%的树苗需要至少3次的重植才能成活，最终长成森林的一部分。

It's not easy but it can be done. Just like my Mother used to say, "No matter how difficult the task is, if you get started of doing it, you will get it done someday. No matter how long the journey is, when you get started of walking on it, you will get there sometime". I have a great respect to the people of Youyu. Through their broad participation and generations of tireless efforts, they have made the impossible possible.
After completed this week's trip to Shanxi Youyu, now sitting on the airplane on my way back to HK, I can still clearly see the villagers' innocent smiling faces. With the same spirit of planting the trees, I am confident that they will quickly get out of the poverty and have a happy, healthy and meaningful life. With that in mind, I feel that there is a warmth in my heart.译文：
在这里，植树造林确实很不容易，但终究可以做到。就像我母亲过去常说的，“为者常成，行者常至”（不管多难的事，只要开始去做，就有做成的一天。不管多远的路，只要开始去走，就有走到的一天）。在这一点上我非常佩服右玉人。通过积极的参与和几代人不懈的努力，他们把“不可能”变成了“可能”。
结束此次山西右玉之行后，我现在坐在返回香港的飞机上，村民们淳朴的笑脸依然历历在目。带着和植树造林一样的精神，我对于村民们在不久的将来就能走出穷困，过上幸福、健康、有意义的生活充满信心。想到这里，我的心中充满了温暖。[ 此贴被彭灵华在2012-03-06 21:57重新编辑 ]
