A Grandfather’s Reflection on Life

Finally, looking back at my life, God has been extremely kind to me. I am what I am today thanks to the genuine help and support of many people around me through my life.

I was born during the World War II, and spent the early years of my childhood through the Civil War of China. My Mother brought us up with countless difficulties. Against all odds, she brought me with good health and most importantly a sound value system of life. She taught me that the real meaning of life is not only about living abetter life just for yourself (安身，讓自己過得更好), but also about making other people’s lives better and more beautiful because of crossing paths with you (別人因遇見你而生命變得更好).

At the end of our life,our legacy will not be measured by how much money we have made, how many structures we have built, how many enterprises we have established, but how many hearts we have touched and left the hopeful prints. For all those teachings and influences Mother made on me and for all the sacrifices she made for me, I am grateful forever.

At this late stage of my life, I am extremely grateful that God still allows me to continue to do things even in a very small way to help to address the critical social problem of the unfair distribution of opportunities in the world. Even with a few of my health problems, God still gives me enough strength to continue traveling and visiting villages, and gives me the opportunities to meet people in need face-to-face to help them build a better and brighter life. This has helped me regain my passion and strength time after time ( 重新得力).

Through the years, while traveling and flying around the world, the most exciting moment of all has to be the short stopovers seeing and playing with my little grandson! I still clearly remember, many years ago when you were still a baby, I stopped over in Tokyo to see you and your mom. When I left, your mom took you together to see me off at the station, and you held my leg and would not let me leave and cried so hard, so loud. I thought the people at the whole station could hear you. You made me feel so sad to leave you, and I remember that moment all my life. Through the years, I thank God for giving me the privilege to witness your growing up. And you have brought great joy in Ehpa’s life indeed.

As you grow up, you will gradually gain more and more real life experiences and therefore become much wiser and stronger to embrace life and explore the endless possibilities it has to offer. Life can be a wonderful journey. I hope you would also from time to time have the opportunities to read and think through this small book of messages Ehpa sent you. Ehpa will always pray for you that God will help you to live a very joyful and meaningful life.

一个祖父的人生回顾

回顾我这一生，我想上天对我真的是十分眷顾了。能走到今天，我要感谢很多在我身边真心帮助和支持过我的人。

我出生于二战期间，并在中国内战期间度过了自己的童稚时代。母亲含辛茹苦地把我们抚养成人。虽然吃尽苦头，母亲还是让我健健康康地长大了。最重要的是，她为我树立了一个正确的人生价值观。她教我懂得，圆满的人生并不是只让自己安身，过上好的生活，而更应该立命，让别人因为遇见我，他们的生命也因此变得更美好。

在生命终结之时，衡量我们人生成就的，并不是我们获得了多少财富，建起了多少楼宇，创立了多少企业，而是我们曾经感动过多少人，在他们的心里，留下了生命的印记。母亲对我的教导和影响，以及她为我所作出的所有牺牲，我会永远都心存感激。

在这人生迟暮之年，上天让我仍然有机会做一点有价值、有意义的事，为解决机会分配不均这一迫切的社会问题略尽绵薄之力，为此我感恩不尽。虽然我的身体也会不时抱恙，但我总还算跑得动，还可以经常出差走访农村，去探望那些需要被帮助的人，设法为他们带来些可持续的影响和改变，让他们过上更美好的生活。能见证他们不断地成长和改变，这让我一次又一次地重新得力，继续前行。

这些年在我忙碌地到处旅行的经历中，我最珍惜的，是能够停下来探望我的小外孙的美好时光，虽然每次的停留和相聚都很短暂！直到现在，我都还非常清晰地记得，很多年以前，那时你还特别小，有一次我途径东京去看望你和你的妈妈。我离开的时候，你妈妈带着你去车站为我送行。在站台上，你抱住我的腿，不肯让我走。你哭得那么凶，那么大声，我想整个车站所有的人一定都听见了你的哭声。这让我极为难过，离开你变得那么不舎，我一辈子都会记得那个场景。年复一年，你一点点长大，感谢上天让我能够见证你成长的过程。你真的给Ehpa的人生带来了莫大的喜悦！

随着年龄的日益增长，你会获得越来越多的人生历练，从而变得更加睿智、更加坚强地去拥抱人生，去探究人生的无尽可能。人生可以成为一趟美好的旅程。在旅途中，我希望你时不时可以有机会拿起这本 Ehpa 写给你的小书，细细地品一品，想一想。Ehpa 会一直为你祷告，祈祷神护佑你过上个既有意义、又充满乐趣的人生。
