【英文原文】 Dear Little D, I still remember how excited I was the moment when your parents told me about your arrival. Having you in our family has been the greatest joy for all of us. As your grandpa, with some bias, I think you’re the cutest baby I’ve ever seen. I could see from your little face and innocent smiles that you would be a person with a kind heart. When your parents told me that they were going to name you David, I was extremely honoured. Since we share the same name, I thought the “Little D” might be interested in getting to know more about the “Big D”. Through telling you about my life experience, I’m going to share with you my values, my thoughts and what I see as the meaning of life. Maybe you’ll notice a bit of your mother in me too. Beginning with my childhood memories in Hunan and Yunnan provinces in China, then the key stages of my career from DuPont to the Hong Kong airport and then to the Kerry Group Kuok Foundation, I am going to show you what I have learned through the years, and more importantly how I apply what I have learned. And through my stories, I also hope to introduce to you a very important person in my life – my mother,your great-grandmother – and her influence on me. A word on “Ehpa” – I guess “grandpa” was too long and too difficult for you to pronounce when you were only two years old, so you invented this shorter, easier and more intimate name, “Ehpa”. The first time you called me Ehpa, you said it with a big smile on your little face. I will always treasure that memorable moment. With that in mind, through this small book of sharing written just for you, I hope you can feel Ehpa’s care and love for you. Ehpa will always pray for you and hope this small book will help to prepare you for a meaningful and joyful life in the many many years to come. With much love,

我现在还清晰地记得，当你的父母将你降生的消息告诉我时，我是如何的激动。你的到来，是我们这个家庭最大的喜讯。作为你的祖父，我这么说也许包含了一些偏爱的成分，但对我来说这是确定无疑的 -- 你是我见过的最可爱的小婴孩了！看见你的小脸和你那天真无邪的笑容，我知道，你以后会成为一个为善之人。
当你的父母告诉我他们给你起名 “David” 时，我真的是深感荣幸。因为我们的名字都叫David，我想，也许小David想多知道一些老David的故事呢！通过和你讲述我的这些生平故事，我会和你分享我的价值观，告诉你我的所思所想，以及我对人生意义的一些看法。从我身上，也许你还能看到一些你母亲的影子。

说说 “Ehpa” 吧。我想，对年仅两岁的你来说，“grandpa” (英文中“祖父/外公”的单词) 这个词实在是太长，太难发音了，所以你发明了 “Ehpa” 这个全新的词汇。对你来说， “Ehpa” 音节更短、更易发音；对我来说，“Ehpa”是一个更亲昵、只属于你和我的专用词汇。当你第一次叫我 “Ehpa” 时，你的小脸蛋上堆满了纯真的笑容，那张笑脸一直都珍藏在我的记忆里。
