原文：很久以前为你们介绍了一本书，那本书的书名叫《追寻人生的意义》。在这个之前我也为你们介绍过一个视频，是林语堂的《年华渐老》（点击这个链接观看：http://bbs.sulanfund.com/bbs/read.php?tid=4788&fpage=2）。译文：Some years ago I introduced the book“In search of meaning of life” to you. I also introduced to you a clip on Lin Yutang’s short article – “Growing old” (Watch here: http://bbs.sulanfund.com/bbs/read.php?tid=4788&fpage=2). 
原文：我是羊年出生的，去年是我的本命年。记得我曾经和你们谈起不管你是多年轻或者像我这样多老，有一天我们终将需要离去。当我们要离开的时候我们总会问问自己，我们留下了什么？译文：I was born in the year of goat and it was again the goat year last year. I remember sharing with you the fact that we will all eventually leave this world regardless of the age we are at right now.When we have to go, we shall all ask ourselves the question “what legacy have I left behind?”
原文：我在想人生在世我们一辈子都在为安身—让自己和家人的日子过得更好，做出很多努力，其实最终能留下的都是和立命—让别人因为遇见你而生命变得更美好，有关系的。 因为物不可持续，因此我们能留下的其实都是跟人有关系的。这十几年在素兰基金会和嘉里集团郭氏基金会的工作让我慢慢感悟到，有一天当我要离开，我能留下的很可能就只是和立命有关系的两件事情，一个模式和一群人。
译文：It seems that we toil away most of our life trying to make ends meet so that our family and ourselves can live a better life. In fact, what I think we can leave behind, is always related to“people”—making other’s life brighter and better because of you—rather than“things” because “things” cannot sustain. Through all these years working with Sulan Foundation and KGKF, I have realised that, one day when I am to leave the world, I probably will leave behind two legacies—a model and a group of change drivers.
原文：这两个基金会一小一大，我们的出发点都不只是想帮助减轻社会问题带来的痛苦，也就是一般的慈善，而是想要更深入的去了解社会问题的症结所在然后提出解决问题的办法，最后并采取行动来解决这些社会问题。译文：Sulan Foundation and KGKF, although are different in size, share the same mission. We do more than just ordinary charity to alleviate the pain caused by social problems. Indeed, we go deep to understand the root of the social problems, think of solutions, and take actions to solve them.
原文：将近15年以前，我们为素兰选择了一个我们认为是这个社会最为迫切需要解决的问题，那就是对于大山里的孩子，跨代贫穷，也就是机会分配不公平的社会问题。译文：About 15 years ago, we chose for Sulan Foundation a cause that we thought was most pressing, which was to help the children in deep mountains to address the intergenerational poverty problem caused by uneven distribution of opportunities.原文：同样的，将近10年以前，我们也为嘉里选择了一个我们认为在农村和城市最为迫切的在职贫困的社会问题，也是个机会分配不公平的社会问题。
译文：Similarly, about 10 years ago, we also chose for Kerry Group Kuok Foundation a cause that we thought was most pressing in both rural and urban China, which was to address the poverty of working people caused by uneven distribution of opportunities.
原文：为了解决这样的社会问题，我们这几年努力的建立了一个模式， 我们把这个模式付诸实践，不断优化，希望能得到更多人的认同然后将这个模式复制推广。译文：To solve this social problem, we have spent the years building a model, practicing it and enhancing it. We hope the model will eventually become widely recognised and further replicated. 
原文：这个模式大概有三个特点：第一，它是一个以人而非以物为中心的模式，因为社会问题是人的问题所以我们做的每件事都是要由人开始，然后最终回到人。第二，这不是一个用钱堆起来的模式，因为钱不能改变人，唯有人用心花时间才能改变人。第三，这是一个非常严谨的，有系统的，有规范的，来一步一步解决社会问题的模式。
译文：The model carries three special features:First, this model is centred upon “people” instead of “things”. We believe that all social problems are people’s problems and therefore, we shall start and end with people. Second, this is not a model built on money. We believe that money cannot change people, and only people spending their heart and time can change people.Third, this is a prudent, systematic,and orderly model to solve social problems one step at a time.
  原文：除了留下一个模式，我们也希望能够留下一群能够帮助复制推广这个模式、有爱心有热情的带头人。
译文：In addition to building a model, we hope to nurture a group of caring and passionate change drivers that will facilitate further replication of the model.
原文：素兰由2002年开始只有一位同学杨秀春，直到今年我们将会成为一个超过80位同学的大家庭。这些年来我们的很多同学都已经毕业了，工作了，成家了，并且有的已经当了父母了，我很高兴你们都没有离去。今天我们的师兄师姐们都在用心帮助年轻的师弟师妹们，希望你们每个人都将成为能做事更能做人、关心自己，更关心别人的一群有爱心有热情的带头人，将素兰的精神和模式继续不断地复制推广出去。译文：Teddy Yang was the first student supported by Sulan Foundation since 2002. Eight years on, we are becoming a big family of 80 students. Many students have already graduated, started working,and built their own families and became parents. I’m glad that you still stay on and many of our older students are helping the younger ones. I am sure you all will be successful at work and in life, and become passionate change drivers that care about not only yourselves but also others. I believe the spirit of Sulan and its model will be replicated further by all of you!
    原文：嘉里由2007年开始到今天，我们已经有了将近320位有心、有力、有德、有才的基金会同事。他们都是我们这些年来在14个中国省市的贫困农村及社区推动人们思维改变，提升人们素质的有力带头人。译文：Founded in 2007, Kerry Group Kuok Foundation now has about 320 determined, strong, virtuous, talented colleagues.They are powerful change drivers helping to promote mindset change and quality enhancement in people of poor rural communities across 14 provinces.
原文：除了基金会员工，我们这些年也培养了一批村民带头人。译文：In addition to the Foundation staff,all these years we have nurtured a group of villagers leaders too.
  原文：一批回乡创业的带头人。他们除了为自己创造机会也带头为别人创造机会。译文：Here is a group of enterprise leaders who have returned from the cities. They create opportunities for themselves and take the lead in creating opportunities for others.
 
原文：这些年，基金会也努力帮助政府培养了一批知道怎样精准脱贫，能够帮助解决农村问题的政府带头人。译文：Over the years, the Foundation has also helped cultivate a group of government officials who know how to eradicate poverty in a targeted way and help solve rural problems.  
原文：更重要的，这些年我们也发掘出一群爱心代表，他们是一群来自基地县不同角落贫困农村的村医，乡村教师以及村民，他们这群500多位的平凡人多年来为身边的人做了不少不平凡的事，往往为了他人的福祉牺牲一己的利益，他们的足迹遍布了整个大江南北。我们希望能把这些平凡中的伟大发扬光大，来影响这片土地上更多的人，以致这些带头人的星星之火能够传遍整个中国大地。
译文：More importantly, all these years we have discovered a group of “Caring Role Models”: they are exceptional,grass-root village doctors, teachers and other villagers who have been lighting up others’ lives by sacrificing their own well-being. More than 500 of these ordinary individuals have done extraordinary things for people around them. They come from different villages from every corner of China. We hope to amplify their impact and reach out to more people. Joined together, these single sparks will spread all over China as a blaze of caring hearts.
  
原文：我深深地相信，有一天当我们都要离去的时候，我们所建立的事和物也都终将随我们而去，但是我们留下的这个模式和这群带头人将会继续的改变这个世界，把这个世界变得更美好。
译文：I genuinely believe that one day when we have to leave the world, all the material things that we have established will be gone with us. Nonetheless, the model and the group of change drivers left will continue to change this world and make it a better place.
