2012年9月21日，彭定中先生在北京作客中国教育台《助跑80后》节目，以下是他想和我们分享的故事。

原文：
＂助跑80 後＂is a program established by the China Education TV with the purpose of trying to help the young people to gain some life experiences through the interactive sharing with the people who are running ahead of them in the journey of life.

译文：
《助跑80后》是中国教育台的一档访谈节目，他们通过邀请一些“前辈”人物分享他们的人生经验，以此帮助年轻人更好地行走他们的人生道路。

原文：
I think that was exactly what I have been trying to do with you in the past 10 years through Sulan. From our online forum, monthly meetings, and annual gatherings, we have exchanged our feelings and experiences to make an impact in each other's life and supporting each other in the journey ahead.

译文：
我想十年以来，其实我一直都在做着助跑80后的事情。通过我们的素兰网站、QQ月会以及素兰年会，我们素兰的家人一直都在相互分享着人生的经验，相互影响，相互支持，共同见证彼此的成长。

原文：
Last month I was invited by the president of Beijing University 周其鳳校長 to visit 北大. During my visit, we had the opportunity to exchange views on how to better help the young people to not only acquire the knowledge but also live a more meaningful life. For that, in the past few years I have been trying to share and exchange ideas and experiences with the students of 北大 and 清華 on how to address the critical social problem of poverty and uneven distribution of opportunities. I am with the hope that one day when they are in the position to lead our society, the experiences they gained studying today's social issues will help them understand social problems more thoroughly and take appropriate actions to tackle them accordingly.

译文：
上个月我接受北大校长周其凤的邀请造访北大。在此次北大之行中，我和周校长就如何更好地帮助年轻人交换了一些看法，我们不只是要帮助他们获取知识，更要帮助他们学会过上更有意义的生活。出于同样的目的，在过去的几年里，我一直都致力于和北大、清华的学生们就如何解决贫困、机会分配不均等社会问题分享我的看法和经验。我希望有一天当这些学生们身居要职时，他们在今天的研究中所获得的经验将可以帮助他们更深刻地理解这些社会问题，从而帮助他们更好地做出决策来着手解决这些问题。

Of course, I was very happy that many of you skipped your classes, took off from your work and came to join me in the program. I was extremely happy that your 大師兄小馬，and 大師姐靈華 could even join me on the stage.

当然，我很高兴北京地区的很多同学都跳了课或者是请了假来现场观看这个节目。尤其是你们的小马大师兄和灵华大师姐甚至还和我一起上台参加了录制。

Yes, we all have been "80後". I was thinking what's the obvious difference between the "80後" today and those of my generation many years ago. I think one of the greatest difference between us got to be your easy accessibility to the modern telecommunication technology. As a results, your generation has much more information than we ever had. With all the easy accessible information, the modern technology has brought you lots convenience in life. However, with too much information and not enough time to process and internalize , the great challenge for you becomes to find and choose the things which you like and really belong to you. I think too much information may bring you too many choices, and too many temptations may prevent you from to give needed focus and persistence to make things happened. I was asked to give advice to today,s 80後 in the program. My advice to them was to carefully choose then do what you like, but also to learn to like what you do and stick to it 做你所愛，也要學會愛你所做。I think that's the advice I would like to send to all of you in Sulan as well .

是的，我们都“曾经80后”过。我在想今天的“80后”和很多年前我那个年代的“80后”相比较，两者之间有哪些明显的差别。我想最大的差别之一就是今天的年轻人拥有非常发达、便利的通讯技术，所以你们这一代人能够获得比我们那时候多得多的信息。因为很容易就可以获得非常多的信息，现代科技给你们的生活带来了很多的便利。不过，由于信息量过大，但是却没有足够的时间来进行相应的处理和内在化，所以对你们来说，一个很大的挑战在于如何找到并选出你们喜爱并且真正属于你们的东西。我想太多的信息也许的确可以让你们拥有很多的选择，不过太多的诱惑也会导致你们缺乏足够的专注和执着，从而阻碍你们走向成功。在节目中，他们让我给今天的80后提一些建议。我的建议就是，你们要学会“做你所爱”，也要学会“爱你所做”。我想这也是我给我们素兰的同学们提出的一条建议。
