（编按：本文选自嘉里集团郭氏基金会《十年回顾》）前瞻经过十年的不懈努力，在这片广大的土地上，我们已经奠定了坚固而深厚的基石，并创建了一个帮助构建公平和谐小康社会的模式。我们将这个模式由南到北，由东到西在中国的十四个省市里付诸实践。在不同的环境里落地实践的过程中，我们学到了不同的知识和经验，这些累积起来的知识和经验又帮助我们把这个模式不断优化，使之受到了政府与社会各界的肯定和认同。引用北京大学社会学系2016 年出版的《理想主义与现实改造》一书中所述：“郭氏基金会堪称在中国活跃大量社会公益性扶贫组织的楷模”。
借用唐代诗人贾岛的《剑客》一诗：
十年磨一剑，霜刃未曾试。 今日把示君，谁为不平事？ 经过十年的艰辛打造，嘉里集团郭氏基金会已经磨成了一把能帮助解决社会问题的利剑。
我们明白，提升国民素质，重建规范公德，来解决当今机会分配不公平的严峻社会问题，不能单凭一己之力。我们必须把十年来建立并在全国十四个实践基地落地实施的脱贫模式复制推广开来，由此来扩大它的影响和覆盖面，希望最终能帮助社会达到人与自然和谐、人与人和谐的敬天爱人之最高境界。
在不断巩固我们十年来勤奋努力得来成果的同时，我们更需要用心、花时间，坚持不懈地在这条漫长而艰巨的千里之程上，积极跨步向前。希望我们在嘉里集团郭氏基金会的下一个十年里，能把我们的影响由现今的示范点、示范村扩展到我们所有的十四个示范县／区的五百万群众当中。我们将为这个社会留下一个创建规范公德、公平和谐小康社会的模式，和一群能用心花时间坚持到底的带头人，从而让更多的人体会到爱的温暖，并乐意把这温暖传递给其他人。
前面的路还漫长而艰辛，坚持从来都不是一件容易的事，因为选择坚持需要莫大的勇气。壮志都有消沉的时候，我们需要彼此之间，亲情、友情、爱情的相互扶持来共同面对我们将遇到的困难。
让我们共同展望下一个十年，积极携手在这条将美梦变成美丽回忆的路上前行，继续书写更多、更美、更感动人心的故事。相信未来的十年，我们的国家会越来越好，我们的乡村会越来越美，我们用心、花时间的坚持不懈，总有一天会让我们的美梦成真。彭定中 嘉里集团郭氏基金会总裁 二零一七年三月一日
Looking Ahead
After ten years of unrelenting efforts, we have laid a firm and deep rooted foundation on this vast landscape, and created a model for building a fair, harmonious and well-off society in this country. From south to north, east to west, we have implemented our model in fourteen provinces and cities across China. In this process, we have acquired a unique set of knowledge and experience, which helped us to continuously refine and enhance our model, and enabled us to win affirmation, recognition and support from the government and members of the society. Idealism and Reality, a publication by the Department of Sociology of Peking University in 2016, calls Kerry Group Kuok Foundation “a role model for the large number of social welfare organisations working for poverty alleviation in China.”
In The Swordsman (剑客), an ancient Chinese poem from the Tang Dynasty, the poet writes:Ten years it took to forge this fine sword / its frosty blade has never been wielded. 十年磨一剑，霜刃未曾试。 Today I present to you its sharp blade / is anyone suffering from injustice? 今日把示君，谁为不平事? After ten years of hard work, Kerry Group Kuok Foundation has been polished like a fine sword; it is a sharp blade that can address social problems.
We fully understand that, if we want to enhance the quality of the people of our country, rebuild order and social harmony in our society,and address serious social problems arising from the unfair distribution of wealth and opportunities, we cannot do it alone. We must continue to multiply and scale up our poverty eradication model – the model which we have established and put into practice in fourteen provinces and cities across China over the past decade – and expand its influence and coverage, in the hope that we can eventually reach the ultimate goal of a society where people show respect for nature and love for their fellow human beings (敬天爱人), and live harmoniously with nature and with each other.
As we continue to build upon our achievements from a decade of hard work, it is even more important that we give our effort, all our heart, time and perseverance as we strive forward on this long and arduous journey. In the next ten years of the Kerry Group Kuok Foundation, we hope that our influence can expand beyond the existing model sites and villages to touch every one of the over five million people who live in our fourteen model counties/districts. The legacy we will leave behind is a model for building a rule-abiding, caring, fair, harmonious and well-off society (有规范公德的公平和谐小康社会), as well as a group of leaders willing to put in their hearts and time and persevere till the very end, in order that more people may feel the warmth of love and be willing to spread this warmth to others.
The road ahead is long and difficult. To persevere has never been easy, and to insist on persevering requires great effort and patience. After all, even great ambitions suffer from moments of weariness, and we need the support of each other – of our families,friends and loved ones – to face the difficulties we encounter.
As we look forward to the next decade, may we continue to work together to transform our beautiful dreams into great memories, so that we can create even more beautiful and heart-warming stories in the years to come. We believe that in the next ten years, our country will become greater,and our villages will become more beautiful; and as long as we commit our hearts and time and persevere in our journey, our dreams will eventually come true.
