2011年2月1日，在从美国匹兹堡返回香港的途中，彭定中先生在伦敦作中途停留，以下是他想与大家分享的风景和故事。

标题原文：A Cold Winter Day At The London Hyde Park

原文：
This is a very cold day in London but without any snow. I had a few hours free time before I have to depart for the airport to catch the flight back to HK. To maximize the value of those few hours, I decided to take a long walk in the nearby Hyde Park. As you would expect, in the cold winter day like this, park is normally not the most popular place for people to visit. I treasure the quiet moment in the park like this, it would be very difficult to get during the summer busy months.

这天伦敦非常冷，但是并没有下雪。我在这里转机飞回香港。在前往机场之前，我还有几个小时的空闲。为了最有效地利用好这点时间，我决定到附近的海德公园里去散个步。你们应该想象得到，在这样寒冷的冬天里，公园通常都不会是最受人们欢迎的地方。这种时候公园里的这份宁静，在夏天非常难得，而这正是我钟情于它的地方。

原文：
Hyde park may be one of the most well-known royal parks in central London. London is a city famous for its numerous well situated and well managed public parks. Through the years, for the people of London the park becomes one of very important public facilities of their daily lives.

译文：
海德公园可能是伦敦市中心最知名的皇家公园之一了。伦敦以其众多的位置良好、管理完善的公园而著称。这些年来，公园已经成为伦敦市民日常生活中最重要的公共设施之一。

原文：
Of course, one of the most important function of a park in the central city is to provide the city people a great space where they can connect themselves to the nature. The London Hyde Park has certainly done it well in that regard.

译文：
当然，对于身处闹市的都市居民来说，公园最重要的作用之一就是它为人们提供了一个和大自然亲密接触的场所。在这一点上，伦敦的海德公园显然可以说功勋卓著。

This bronze sculpture of ISIS at the park was named after the ancient Egyptian goddess of nature. It was built to promote the harmonious relationship between the people and the nature.

This family of birds were being able to enjoy their dinner without too much of an interruption from the people in the surroundings.

This beautiful white swan moving so gracefully on the surface of the winter pond brought some peace in my heart.

In contrast of the scene of the happy mother and child was the all dressed up old lady sitting on the very lonely park bench in the cold.

One of the very famous spot in the Hyde Park is the Speaker's corner. Still remember in the late 70s, I visited London for the 1st time, at this corner I watched many different speakers expressing their different views, believes and of course grieves with great passion. Today I have not seen any speaker here, except this passing by lady. She is a medical doctor in London and has a great interest in Chinese medicine. She stood at this corner gave me an about 20 minutes talk with great passion about the problems of UK and the world.

In the Hyde Park there is a fountain with modern design in memory of the late Princess Diana.

译文：

Of course, Hyde Park also has many nice good looking trees even in the winter.

译文：

This is a memorial tree made to remember the tree burned during a riot in the 19th century London. Hope this will remind the people in the 21st century that we need to treasure every tree we have and to learn to live with the nature in harmony.

这棵用石头拼成的树，是为了纪念19世纪发生在伦敦的一起革命运动中被烧毁的一棵树。希望它可以提醒21世纪的人们，我们要珍惜我们所拥有的每一棵树，并且学会与大自然和谐相处。

原文：
I realized that I have already walked for about 3 hours in this beautiful park. I have truly enjoyed it. However, I also noticed that my feet, hands and ears were frozen and a bit painful.

译文：
我意识到自己已经在这座美丽的公园里流连忘返了大约3个小时。这真是一次愉快的散步。但是，我也注意到，我的手和脚，还有耳朵，都已经被冻得有一点发痛了。

原文：
I quickly found this cozy coffee shop near the park and took advantage of it. A cup of hot coffee greatly helped to warm up my frozen body. Sitting here in London, I am hoping that all of you had a very safe trip home and enjoying a wonderful new year holiday with your families. I also would like to wish you all to have an another healthy and happy year of rabbit.

译文：

说实话我看到那个为了一棵砍掉的树而用石头拼出来一棵树来纪念
真的挺震撼的！！

伦敦的海德公园很美，安静祥和的画面，长沙与广州都有很多公园，但是每次都给我很闹、杂的感受，也许有机会我也可以趁着人少的日子静静地欣赏公园的美景。
这次春节回家，回到大山，也感受到了大自然的温和与安详，愿大自然一直这么和谐！

看到湖面的时候，
那只天鹅，那么优雅安闲，
画面的平静
在电脑屏幕面前的我，有种很强烈的特别感觉。。。

动物见人来而不走，
这种情况不知是好是坏。
也许公园里衣食无忧的生活让
它们忘掉了野性，也许是动物
与人做到了和谐共存。

呵呵，我相信这是好事。如果是狮子、老虎见人来了不走，也许我们可以说这些动物失去了野性，如何如何。如果是松鼠、小鸟之类的动物见人来了不走，这和失去野性是两回事。我想这是一种和谐共存。

我们说人与动物的和谐共存，其实都是一个度的问题。和不同的动物，我们与之共处的度是不一样的。松鼠、小鸟见人来了不走，也有一个度。它再不害怕人，我们也不可能真的能够走到它跟前10厘米的距离去接近它。因为它们毕竟不是狗、猫，天天都和人生活在一起。所以，如果在公园里，它们不会见到人就害怕得跑走和飞走了，我们就可以说这是一种和谐共处。同样道理，和狮子、老虎，我们人类也是要和谐共处的。只不过这种距离又要大一些了。狮子、老虎可以生活在它们的大草原和大森林，生存环境不会因为人类的活动而受到破坏甚至是毁灭，人类也不会过度地捕杀它们以致它们要面临灭绝，这也就是和谐共处了。我们并不能期待说，狮子、老虎和人类的和谐共处，可以发展到有一天大家都可以在公园里各自悠闲地散步并且相安无事——如果真到了那么一天，那时我们可以说，这些动物失去野性了，那当然不是什么好事。

所以，人和自然界和谐共处，是一个度的问题。对于不同的物种和不同的环境，人类与之共处的度不一样。再打一个最简单的比方是，我们不能因为说要和植物和谐相处，所以我们人类就不要吃粮食、不要吃蔬菜了，大家直接通过光合作用来生存。也不能说，我们要爱护自然环境，所以人类不要挖土、采石、砍树和造房子了，大家全部去住在原始的洞穴里……所以，要具体的事物具体分析，不能笼统地说“动物见人来而不走，这种情况不知是好是坏”，我想是这么一个道理。
