A few years ago I was invited to serve as an advisor for the development of the New Tokyo International Airport Terminal. Last week the terminal officially opened for service, I was again invited to witness the occasion.

On top of this elegant Eido street is a nice observation deck. From there both the passengers and visitors can see and hear these jumbo aircrafts such as this Airbus 380 parked on apron.

I think this is indeed a well designed and well constructed modern airport terminal. It nicely blend the relatively quiet ancient Japanese characters into a modern busy air facility. I can see people have put lots of minds and hearts to make all details almost perfect. However, with all the great things they have done, I somehow just feel that as a whole, it does not give people the feeling of grandness (不够大气).

我想这座新候机大楼的确称得上一座设计优美、结构完善的现代化候机大楼。它把古代日本文化中的恬静与闲适恰好地融入进了现代机场的繁忙中。我看得出来，为了让所有的细节都几乎达到完美，人们投入了很多的用心和努力。但是，尽管他们在很多方面已经做得非常不错，从整体上来说，我还是觉得有一些不够大气。
