2009年5月初，距离汶川地震发生整整一年后，彭定中先生率香港嘉里集团郭氏基金会一行再次踏上灾区绵竹的土地。以下是他想和我们分享的故事。

原文：
I came back to the earthquake zone one year after 512. In certain areas of Mianzhu, you can still see the signs of the heavy damage from the tragic earthquake a year ago. People can still tell you all the sad stories like yesterday. Many people lost their children, parent and houses. Some times people seems to have short memories, tragedies like 512, people may remember for ever.

译文：
5•12地震发生整整一年之后，我再次回到四川灾区。在绵竹，有些地方还是可以看到重创之后的痕迹。人们仍然可以向你讲述出所有悲伤的故事，如同昨日一样。很多人在这场灾难中失去孩子，失去父母，失去居所。有时候人们好像比较健忘。但像5•12地震这样的灾难，人们也许会永远铭刻在心。

原文：
Now Mianzhu is like a big construction site. You can see people rebuilding their houses everywhere.

译文：
现在的绵竹，看上去就像一个大型建筑工地，随处可见人们为重建家园而忙碌。

原文：
Our housing rebuilding work has been in good progress. The 1st phase of the construction work has pretty much completed and the families have moved in. We are scheduled to complete all the about 1500 houses before the winter.

译文：
我们的灾区房屋重建计划进展得很顺利。第一期工程已经快要完成，村民已经入住。按照计划，我们要建造的约1500所房子全部会在今年冬天之前完工。

原文：
This is a great day for celebration. About 90 families now have their new homes. The villagers are taking time off to prepare food for us for the celebrations.

译文：
今天是个大喜的日子。90户人家搬进了新居。为了庆贺，村民们抽出时间来为我们准备吃的。

原文：
This baby lost the father during the earthquake, now moved to the new house and have to start a new life.

译文：
这个孩子在地震中失去了父亲。现在他搬进了新家，即将开始新的生活。

原文：
Plant trees for the next generation to enjoy the shade in the summer.

译文：
今日植树，荫泽后世。

原文：
An old gentleman is reading a poem to show his gratitude.

译文：
一位老人朗读了一首诗，来表达他的感激之情。

原文：
During my last trip to the village, the villagers promised me to cook 'ton yuen" for me when they move in their new houses. They fulfilled their promise when I visited them this time. I enjoyed the "ton yuen" very much. It sweetened my heart.

译文：
我上一次来这里时，村民们承诺说在他们搬进新家的时候，他们会煮汤圆给我吃。这次我回到这里，他们兑现了自己的承诺，我吃上了又香又甜的汤圆。这甜甜的汤圆，一直甜到我的心里。

原文：
It was really nice to see people's smiling faces again. It makes all the troubles we went through worthwhile. We wish them not just enjoying their new houses, but also have happy new lives in the future.

译文：
看见这些人们能重展笑容，我真的感到很开心。这使我们所经受的所有困难都是值得的。在祝贺村民们喜迁新居的同时，我们希望他们在将来也过上幸福美满的日子。

原文：
During this trip, I also had a light moment. As you can see, holding this 6 month old baby panda is not that easy! Hope you all will have a chance to experience that in the future.

译文：
这次出差，我也有过轻松一刻的享受。你们可以看得出来，抱起这个6个月大的熊猫宝宝并不是那么容易的事！希望有一天你们也会有机会来试试。
