The Destination And The Journey - On My Way To A Crab Dinner In San Francisco

This is the last of the three very intense days of meetings in San Francisco. Just finished all the heavy schedules for the trip. After all the hard work, I thought that I deserved a light moment before I leave here tomorrow. I decided to go to one of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco, CRUSTACEAN, to enjoy a nice crab dinner. It's just a simple garlic crab and some bread or a bowl of rice. However, this got to be the best crab I have ever eaten anywhere I can remember. The restaurant was quite a distance from the hotel I stayed. Instead of taking taxi or cable car, I decided to take the long walk to enjoy this pleasant but very cool summer evening. People like to joke that San Francisco's summer is colder than that of the winter. Under the fog and the sea breeze, you certainly don't feel this is a typical summer evening.

The journey to the crab restaurant started from the area of Union Square at Market Street. Just behind the hotel you can see this nice traditional catholic church.

Right next to the Catholic church is this modern Jewish Museum.

Two different religious structures, old and new, stood side by side in harmony does teach us that different people in the world can and should care for each other and live together in harmony.

The caring should go especially to those people of under privileged who need our special care and help in this world.

From Market Street walked north along the Grant Street you will enter the area of San Francisco China Town. This is the biggest and maybe also the most established China Town in the west coast of the North America. Of course, in addition to China Town there are Japan Town and Italy Town etc in many of the American cities. People have demonstrated that different cultures can live side by side in great harmony as well.

Looks like the street of China Town was extremely busy. There are still lots of uncertainties about the economy in this country. However, the consumer confidence seems to have improved from a year ago .

Just like this statue of chess players outside of the China Town store for sale, to address our current economical uncertainties, we need many good leaders to do a lot of good thinking on how to make the critical next moves on the world economy.

From the Grant street, I turned west and climbed the steep hill of the California Avenue and reached the community of Nob Hill.

Looked like the California Avenue's cable car can climb the hill much easier than I did .

Standing at the top of the Nob Hill you can see the beautiful foggy San Francisco Bay from distance.

At the top of the hill, you can pleasantly discover this small but very elegant park which is located almost at the center of Nob Hill.

The park is surrounded by some of the San Francisco's oldest and most famous hotels like the Fairmont Hotel.

Also surrounded the park was this beautiful Grace Cathedral.

And these more traditional San Francisco residential buildings.

As well as this kind of modern residential structures.

Living there are many dog and cat loving residents.

To meet their demand, you can also find a lot of pet's food at this neighborhood supermarket.

And also this California Ave Nob Hill cat medical clinic. From the Nob Hill I began to walk downhill to reach the Van Ness Avenue. I finally arrived my destination, the Crustacean crab restaurant.

As you can see that this has been a very interesting 1 and 1/2 hour long journey to my destination of this small crab restaurant. I did very much enjoy the crab dinner, but the journey of getting here was even more enjoyable. I think that's what we can all learn in life. Yes, focusing on the destination is always important, but enjoying the journey of getting there can be equally important and sometimes more enjoyable. Let's try to remember, in life to get what we want is very important, but how to get it is even more important. Now I have finished my delicious crab dinner and ready to enjoy another long walk in the San Francisco evening breeze to get back to my hotel.

从这篇文章中我学到了彭先生的自我调节方式,紧张而忙碌的工作后,散步,边走边欣赏,来缓解疲劳,一顿好吃的来犒劳自己;
异样文化的共存,这需要我们的包容,并非忍耐就能达到的;
