This is the 10th year of the Sulan and the 5th year of the Kerry Group Kuok Foundation. It looks like that the world has not and will not change by just a few heroes driving from the high ground. I think that it is the cumulated small changes resulted from the many daily efforts of the ordinary people like you and me which will make the world a better place. With that belief and the support of many who shared that belief, I have started this very long and difficult journey years ago. Looking back, along the way, I have faced many challenges and experienced some difficult moments. As I told you this summer in Chang Sha, 壯志都会有消沈的時候. Some of you asked me in the past that how did I regain my strength from those difficult moments and continue the journey. Obviously it was not from within; time after time it was the power beyond me which has helped me to regain my strength to carry on the journey. I think that many times it came from those innocent smiling little faces whom I met in the poor rural countries across the land. They will bring us hope and confidence for the future. Watching them to have the opportunities to grow up to live a better and happier life would be a great joy in my life.译文：
今年是素兰基金会成立的第10周年，也是嘉里集团郭氏基金会成立的第5周年。在我看来，好像这个世界从来都没有——将来也不会——因为几个英雄人物的登高一呼而发生改变。而是像你我这样的普通人通过每天的努力所取得的日积月累的细小改变，最终让这个世界变得更加美好。几年前，我就是带着这样的信念和很多持有这样信念的人的支持下，我开始踏上了这条漫长而艰辛的长征之路。回头去看，这一路上，我也曾面对很多挑战、经历不少困难的时候。就像今年夏天我在长沙同你们说过，壮志都会有消沉的时候。有些同学曾经问我，以前当我遇到困难的时候，我是怎样重新获得力量继续前行的。很显然，我所获得的力量并不是自生的，而那一次又一次地超越了我本人的力量帮助我重新获得继续前行的力量，我想很多次是来自我在这片土地上所看到的那些贫穷农村的孩子们的天真无邪笑脸，他们给我们带来了未来的希望和信心。看着他们在成长的过程中有机会过上更好更幸福的生活，是我人生中无比喜悦的一件事。
