2009年7月中旬，彭定中先生前往美国旧金山出席每三个月召开一次的VISA公司董事会，中途在加拿大温哥华稍作停留。以下是他这次想要和我们分享的风景和故事。

It's nice to be able to get away from the crowded city like Hong Kong once for a while. On my way to the Board Meeting in San Francisco, I am back in Vancouver again for a short stopover.

译文：
对成日生活在香港这样喧嚣都市的人来说，暂时的逃离是一件美事。在前往旧金山参加VISA公司董事会的途中，我再次在温哥华稍作停留。

The harbour under the summer sun, is as beautiful and as attractive as ever.

In the harbour, you can see the sea planes quietly lying on the water.

Or in the very refreshing breeze of the dawn, they all make you feel that you are completely submerged in the nature surrounded you. As a matter of fact, we should always be a very small part of that great nature. People just need to be reminded from time to time.

Yes, the nature is surrounding us everywhere. It has always been waiting for us to connect to it. However, when people are too busy to look at the world of themselves, they lose their ability to connect and appreciate the nature surrounding them. They have therefore lost the delicate touch of the nature which they belong to.

译文：
是的，大自然其实无处不在。她随时随地，一直静静等待人们的回归。但人们总是太过奔忙于自己的狭小世界，从而失去与大自然亲密接触的能力，尽管他们一直置身其中。

原文：
Those were the blue sky, white cloud,
青山,绿水 I saw in 保靖 last week.

They are as beautiful and as inspiring as any natural scenery I have seen around the world.

When we can submerge ourselves in the nature, we will begin to feel that we are so small and so powerless. The almighty nature will make us humble. It will also make us better appreciate the beauty of simplicity, ie, the virtue of 化繁为简,反璞归真. Only when we can connect ourselves back to the nature and be part of nature , we can then feel the lasting happiness, and see the real meaning of life. The nature can cultivate our hearts to care for not only ourselves but also others, for not only this generation but also generations to come. The nature makes people understand 敬天爱人的真谛。

当我们身处大自然的时候，我们会感觉到自己的渺小和无助。万能的大自然教会人类懂得谦卑，也教会我们更真切地体会到简朴之美，即“化繁为简，反璞归真”之真义。只有我们回归自然，成为其中一部分的时候，我们才会感觉到恒久的快乐，懂得人生的真义。在大自然的熏陶下，我们学会在照顾自己的同时也要关爱他人，在考虑当代人利益的同时也要顾及子孙后代。大自然让我们懂得“敬天爱人”的真谛。
