2009年3月下旬，彭定中先生率嘉里集团郭氏基金会一行再次前往陕西淳化，着手组建郭氏基金会在淳化县的脱贫工作项目组。

以下是他想和我们分享的风景和故事。

标题原文：Spring arrives in Chunhwa

原文：
Came back to Shaanxi Chunhwa for the 2nd time in a month. This time the spring flowers are welcoming us. Looks like that the spring is really here in this very poor but beautiful "yellow earth plateau" village.

译文：
这是我这个月第二次来到陕西淳化。这一次，绽放的春花已在迎接我们。看来，在黄土高原上这个贫穷而美丽的村庄里，春天已经真正地来临。

原文：
The fragrant flowering smell in the air brought these caves and the surrounding areas with life.

译文：
花儿的芳香，给这些地窖及周边的环境都带来了盎然的生机。

原文：
This family of three, father, mother and daughter began to plant some apple trees in between the winter wheat.

译文：
一个三口之家，父亲、母亲和他们的女儿，开始在冬麦之间栽种苹果树。

原文：
Of course, the spring has not taken the poverty away from Chunhwa.

译文：
当然，春天并没有驱赶走淳化的贫穷。

原文：
To ultimately help people getting out of poverty, as I indicated to you in Baojing, we need to first help them to change their mind set. The support of the village leadership will be essential for our success.

译文：
要帮助人们从根本上脱离贫穷，我在保靖同你们说过，首先要做的是帮助这些人转变自己的思想理念。要成功地做到这一点，村委会的支持必不可少。

原文：
As you all know that money can not change people, only people can change people. Therefore if we want to change those villagers, in addition to money, we need a team of dedicated people, to use their hearts and dedicate their time to help to change the mind set of those poor farmers.

译文：
你们都知道，钱不能改变人，只有人可以改变人。因此，要改变这些村庄的贫穷面貌，除了钱之外，我们也需要一支专注于这份事业的团队。这些人需要用心地付出时间和努力，来帮助我们去改变农民们的思想理念。

原文：
We have just selected a very good team. They all have many years of experience in the areas of health, education, planting, animal husbandry, water resources, and accounting and finance etc. I am counting on their leadership and drive to gradually change the mind set of the villagers, and eventually bring a better life to all the poor people in Chunhwa, including this little naughty kid. He must be in big trouble, had to stay behind to accept the teacher's punishment. I know all of you never have to done that, because you were all nice kids when you were little??

译文：
我们已遴选出一个非常好的项目组。这些人分别在医疗卫生、教育、种植、畜牧业、水资源、财会等领域有着多年的经验。我期待着在他们的带领下，村民们的思想理念逐步得到转变，最终我们会让淳化所有的穷人都过上好日子——也包括这个淘气的小孩。看来他遇到了不小的麻烦，他被老师留下来罚写作业了。我知道你们从来都不曾有过这样的遭遇，因为你们小时候都是好孩子，是不是？？
